Centuries of golf has been played over these beautiful old links. Much of the course that’s played today was down to the ‘Grandfather of Golf’ Old Tom Morris. It’s time for The 1457 Society to walk in the footsteps of legends that have played the links over the years.

Join us at Dunbar Golf Club on Scotland’s Golf Coast for our Summer Meeting on Monday August 26th. First laid out in 1856 and redesigned over the years by the likes of Old Tom Morris, Ben Sayers and James Braid, Dunbar East Links has a pedigree second to none. Well defined holes following the natural contours of a narrow strip of land between the old red sandstone deer park wall and the rocky shoreline are the hallmarks of these links.

Our nine holer event is sure to be a lot of fun. Play nine at Comrie GC and then take a short ten minute drive to play another nine holes at St Fillans GC. These little nine holers are so much fun and are a huge part of golf in Scotland.

This event includes tea/coffee and bacon rolls on arrival at Comrie Golf Club and a meal after the round at St Fillans.

Join us for a ferry trip to the Isle of Arran for two rounds at Shiskine. The course has 12 holes and is a seaside links course with wonderful views. Always in great condition, the greens staff take great pride in the course and work very hard to maintain it to a very high standard. Founded in 1896 with many “blind” holes with names such as the “Crows Nest” and the “Himalayas”.

The day begins with a 9:15am check-in at Ardrossan Ferry Terminal for the crossing as foot passengers to Arran. We’ll be picked up by taxis, crossing to Shiskine on the west side of the island. We’ll have lunch between rounds then head back for the 7:20pm sailing home.

Join us at Dumbarnie Links for our Spring Meeting on April 26th. Blessed with breath-taking views and wonderful hospitality from their experienced team, Dumbarnie Links has quickly become a ‘Must Play’ course for many golfers.. It’s a brilliant links experience from 1 thru 18.

We’ve got 16 spots for this event, which includes a pre-round favourite, their Old Barn Burger with a side of whisky sauce and fries at 1.00pm and use of warm up balls on the range before teeing off.

We kick off the 2024 season with a round on Gullane No.2 course on Friday 22nd March.

There are few courses better conditioned this early in the year. The pristine sandy links turf provides a first-class playing surface, while the consistently exceptional quality of the greens ensures an outstanding experience no matter the season.

We’ve got 16 spots for this event, which includes a pre-round coffee/tea and bacon rolls then soup and sandwiches after the round in their refurbished Gullane Links Clubhouse.

Join us for a day out at Dundonald Links on the west coast of Scotland. This championship links course has hosted the Gents and Women’s Scottish Opens. We have 28 spots for this one and the day includes a round of golf and food after the round. Oh and a game of pool or two!

Join us for The Hogan at Panmure Golf Club on October 13th. Panmure is rich in heritage and tradition and has played host to many amateur championships and Open qualifying for neighbouring Carnoustie throughout the years.

We’ve got 24 spots for this event and included in the day is warm up balls on the range, 18 holes on the championship course and food after the round. We’ve also a small tasting session at the Angus Alchemy Distillery to round the day off.

Lanark Golf Club is thought to be the oldest inland golf course in the world which still plays golf on its original site. It’s also the 25th oldest golf club in the world and the 18 holes were designed by Old Tom Morris and James Braid. The course plays like an inland links as its built on top of ancient glacial sands. Expect a firm and fast test of golf.

Our first 1457 Society event of the summer season in 2023 had to be at the oldest course in the world… right? Musselburgh Links, the Old Course is best played with a half set (five clubs of your choice). We’ve got 36 spots for this event which will be followed by a burger and some barstool putting games at Ducks Inn in Aberlady, just along the road.

Join us for The Glasgae at Gailes Links on March 24th. Gailes Links is one of Ayrshire’s top links courses that has played host to many amateur championships and Open qualifying throughout the years.
