Join the 1457 Society for a late-summer links adventure as we head south to Goswick Links Golf Club on Friday 28th August — a course rich in history and renowned for its pure, authentic playing conditions.
We’ll meet in the clubhouse from around 10.30am for coffee and a bacon roll, before heading to the first tee at 11:22am. After the round, we’ll return to the clubhouse to enjoy a two-course meal, rounding off a full and sociable day on the links.
Golf has been played at Goswick since 1890, and today it stands proudly as an Open Championship regional qualifying venue. Laid out on fast-draining sand dunes and entirely covered in fine fescue grass, Goswick offers firm, fast and wonderfully responsive conditions.
Much of the course’s clever routing is credited to James Braid, five-time Open Champion, whose influence is evident in a layout that is challenging yet fair, with not a weak hole in sight.
This is a members-only 1457 Society event, with places limited to maintain the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that defines our days.
